Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Venkat Karthik Vadlapatla (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles your information when you use WeightStory (“App”).

1. Information We Handle

• Health and fitness data you enter: weight, height, age, fasting activity, hydration intake, goals, and BMI calculations
• Name: an optional name you enter. Only your first name is shown, in greetings in the App
• Apple Health / Health Connect data: only if you choose to connect these integrations, and only the data types you approve. WeightStory reads and saves weight, water and height, and on iPhone reads your date of birth to fill in your age.
• Google account details (Android): only if you connect your Google account for sync. See section 4.
• Purchase status: whether you have an active subscription or lifetime purchase. Apple and Google process your payment; we do not receive your card details. We use RevenueCat to check your purchase status. It receives your purchase details, an anonymous ID and basic device details (such as app version, operating system and country), never your health data.
• Invite a Friend: if you send or use an invite, our invite service stores the invite code, an anonymous app ID for you and for the person who invited you or whom you invited, when the invite was sent and used, and whether a plan was chosen with it. It never receives your name, email address or health data. Like any web service, it briefly receives your IP address when you open an invite link or the App contacts it.
• Early access (website): until the App is in the App Store and Google Play, you can join an early-access list on weightstory.app. We use your email address and phone type for one thing only: to send your invite to test the App before release, through Apple’s TestFlight or Google Play’s testing program. Our website host, Netlify, stores the list. When the App is in both stores, the list closes and we delete it, or sooner if you ask.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting tools.

Your health data and name stay on your device and, when sync is on, in your own iCloud or Google account. They are never sent to us.

2. Why We Use It

We use your information only to:

• Run the App’s features (tracking, BMI, fasting timers, hydration, trends)
• Sync your data across your own devices, when sync is on
• Confirm your subscription status
• Respond to your support requests
• Send your early-access invite, if you joined the list

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.

3. Health Platform Data

Data from Apple Health or Health Connect is used only to provide the App’s tracking features to you. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with third parties. You can disconnect these integrations at any time in your device settings.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on your device. On iPhone, sync is on by default: your data is also stored in your own iCloud account, unless you turn sync off in the App’s Settings. On Android, your data is stored in your own Google account only if you choose to connect it. The only server we operate is the invite service described below; it holds no health data. We cannot see data that stays in your device or personal cloud account. Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies apply to that storage.

Google account (Android). If you connect your Google account, WeightStory stores your data in a hidden folder in your own Google Drive that only WeightStory can open. It cannot see or access any of your other Drive files. When you sign in, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with the App; we keep only your email address and Google account ID (and, while you switch accounts, the previous account’s email), on your device, to show which account is connected. WeightStory’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Invite a Friend. Invite records are stored on our invite service, which runs on Cloudflare. They contain only what’s listed in section 1, so we can give each invite’s reward to the right person.

Phone backups. Your phone’s own backup (iCloud Backup or Android’s backup to Google Drive) may also include the App’s data. Apple’s and Google’s settings control that backup.

5. Age Requirement

WeightStory is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly provide the App to anyone under 18. Please contact us if you believe a minor is using the App.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

• View and edit your data inside the App
• Delete your data at any time from within the App
• Stop sharing with Apple Health or Health Connect at any time in your device settings
• Ask us at hello@weightstory.app to delete your invite records
• Contact us at hello@weightstory.app with any question or complaint about your data

We hold no copy of your health data, so deleting it inside the App is how erasure happens. While sync is on, deleting your data in the App also removes the synced copy that WeightStory stored in your iCloud or Google account. Turning sync off leaves that copy in place; to remove it, turn sync back on before deleting, or delete it from your iCloud or Google account storage settings. On Android you can also remove it in Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → WeightStory → Delete hidden app data. Uninstalling the App on its own does not remove that synced copy, so use the App’s delete option first if you want everything erased. Entries that WeightStory already saved to Apple Health or Health Connect stay there; you can delete them in those apps. If we hold anything else about you, such as a support email, we will delete it on request. We will respond within 30 days.

EEA, UK, and similar regions: You may have rights under laws such as the GDPR, including access, correction, and deletion, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Because your health data stays on your device and in your own cloud account, we do not collect or process it ourselves. When you email us, we keep your email so we can reply. We keep your purchase status so the App can unlock what you paid for. If you send or use an invite, we keep the invite records described in section 1. If you join the early-access list, we keep your email only until launch. We have no other reason to hold your data, and we don’t.

United States: Residents of states with privacy laws, including consumer health data laws such as Washington’s My Health My Data Act, may have rights to access, delete, and withdraw consent for health data. We do not sell or share consumer health data. Contact us at hello@weightstory.app to exercise these rights.

India: Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have rights to access, correct, and erase your personal data and to raise a grievance. Contact us at hello@weightstory.app to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

We keep no copy of your health data on our own systems. Data stays on your device or personal cloud account until you delete it. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request. Your purchase record is kept by RevenueCat for as long as it’s needed to provide what you bought, or until you ask us to delete it. Invite records are deleted 12 months after the invite was sent.

8. Security

Your data is protected by your device’s and your cloud account’s security. We take reasonable steps to protect any information sent to us, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

9. International Use

WeightStory is available worldwide. We are based in India. Because your data stays on your device or in your own Apple or Google account, we do not transfer it across borders ourselves. RevenueCat, which checks your purchase status, may process it in the United States. Our invite service runs on Cloudflare’s worldwide network and may process invite records in the United States and other countries.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and show a notice in the App where required.
